Today was a great day. It was not without its starts and stops, fits and fights, but – all in all – it ended up being very, very good.
My son Alex had his school carnival (an annual event) today and Jen organized the whole ever-lovin’ thing. She did so much work, between making sure every thing was purchased (240 hot dogs, buns, chips, cases and cases of pop, water, and tons more stuff), that every one was in the right place at the right time, and that everything went off without a hitch, it was a busy day. And, as usual, she did great. The carnival was great fun for everyone – especially the kids.
My role in the carnival was limited, but fun none the less. I brought my fire gear (coat, pants, boots, helmet, and air pack) along with a bunch of fun fire safety coloring books, tattoos, and balloons and spent 3 hours talking to the kids and their parents about being safe. It was so much fun! The kids really appreciate anything free and seemed to really like looking at, touching, and trying on my gear.
Also, another addition to the fun was that my parents and Jen’s parents came up to bring the boys to the carnival and keep them occupied while Jen and I worked. The boys always love to see their grandparents and today was no different – they had fun from beginning to end. I’m so glad that we are able to be so close to them and that they have lots of opportunities to see the boys.
Life is good.
